Independent verification

For several decades, Aas-Jakobsen has been an industry leader in complicated and innovative concrete structures both in the onshore and offshore market. The wide experience from front-end and detail engineering of concrete structures provides an ideal background for carrying out independent verification of large and challenging concrete structures for the oil and gas industry.

During the important Condeep period, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) initially engaged Aas-Jakobsen to conduct independent verification of all concrete GBS’s in the Norwegian Sector. Subsequently, when the legislation of Company Internal Verification was introduced in the 1980’s this activity was transferred to the oil companies and consequently such companies became our Clients.

During this period, Aas-Jakobsen performed independent verifications of the majority of the concrete offshore structures of the 80s and 90s in the Norwegian sector of North Sea, some of them being of a pioneering nature.

Over the past 15 years, Aas-Jakobsen has held key positions in the structural discipline on all the major concrete structures built by Kværner, which has ensured continuity in our involvement in the area of offshore concrete structures.

Thus by the long and varied involvement at an expert level with offshore concrete structures, we believe that we have the very best position to carry-out independent verifications.
