Signed agreement for fjord crossings in North-West Norway

This week, AMC (Aas-Jakobsen, COWI and Multiconsult with Johs Holt) signed an agreement with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for fjord crossings in North-West part of Norway.

The contract involves further development of fjord crossing concepts on three out of a total of seven fjords outlined in the Ferry-free E39 project.

The AMC design group has good experience from similar previous bridge projects in Norway.

– We are very pleased that our group has been awarded the framework agreement. The experience and expertise we have gained through the design of previous bridge projects is very relevant to such an important project as this, says Gunnar Egset, General Manager of Johs Holt / Department Manager of Multiconsult.

An important part of the agreement for the fjord crossings will be a study of technical feasibility.

– The fjords covered by the agreement are all very different, with different actions from waves and wind. Such projects require thoroughness and solid engineering expertise. We are looking forward to getting started, says Erik Sundet, Head of Department for Bridges in COWI.

Svein Erik Jakobsen from Aas-Jakobsen describes the framework agreement as very exciting.

– Our group have highly relevant expertise for the technical solutions that these types of projects require. With the overall expertise the group has built up in relevant projects, I have no doubt that we will deliver good concepts, says Jakobsen.

The various feasibility studies will start in 2020.In total, three groups signed an agreement with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
